Terminal and remote-session manager
Every remote session in one window. With an AI that reads your exact error.
Local shells, SSH, SFTP, tunnels, serial, Telnet and Mosh, side by side in tabs and split panes. Select what went wrong, ask, and run the fix with one click. For Linux and Windows, free and open source.

Drawn with PlexusTerm's own styles and default colour scheme. Press Run yourself, or watch; . In the app nothing runs until you do, and the terminal output is never sent: only the text you select.
Five tools for one job, now one window
Most days on servers mean a terminal, a file client, a serial program, a tunnel script and a browser tab with a chatbot. PlexusTerm puts them next to each other, sharing the same connection.

- SFTP clientfiles

- Tunnel scriptsssh -L 5432:…
- Chatbot in a browser tabcopy, paste

The SFTP browser follows the folder of the SSH tab, tunnels use the saved session and its jump hosts, and the AI chat sits under the terminal you are working in.
Small things that save the day
Bring your servers with you
Import every Host of ~/.ssh/config with its user, port, key and ProxyJump, or the bookmarks of a sessions .ini file. You see a preview first.
Drag a folder, land in it
Drop a folder from the SFTP browser or the local Explorer on an empty command line and the shell changes to it. Files drop as quoted paths, PowerShell included.
Finish commands as you type
Grey suggestions come from your own history on that host, and from the AI when the history has nothing. Off with one switch.

Your servers, your keys, your call
An AI next to a root shell has to earn trust. These are the rules PlexusTerm follows.
A suggested command runs only when you click Run or press Enter. Run refuses at password prompts and inside vim or other full-screen programs.
Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, OpenCode Go or any OpenAI-compatible server such as Ollama. Without a key, nothing reaches any provider.
The chat sends your question and the text you select, never the terminal output. Lines starting with a space stay out of history and out of the AI.
Saved passwords and API keys go to the keyring of your system, not to a file. The code is MIT-licensed and open to read.
Moving from another session manager?
Export its sessions to an .ini file and import it. SSH and Telnet bookmarks keep their folders; passwords are never read.
- Sessions → Import → From an .ini file…
- Check the preview: what will be added, and what is skipped.
- Confirm. Sessions land under Imported.

Questions before you install
Is PlexusTerm free?
Yes. PlexusTerm is free and open source under the MIT licence, with no paid edition and no account. The AI assistant is optional and uses your own API key with the provider you choose.
Which systems does PlexusTerm run on?
Linux (Debian and Ubuntu .deb, Fedora, openSUSE and RHEL .rpm, or a portable .tar.gz, on amd64 and arm64) and Windows (MSI or setup .exe installer, x86_64).
What can I connect to?
Local shells (PowerShell, cmd, WSL, Git Bash, bash, zsh, fish), SSH with password, key or agent login and up to 3 jump hosts, SFTP, local, remote and dynamic port forwards, serial consoles, Telnet and Mosh.
Does the AI see my terminal?
No. The terminal output is never sent. The AI chat sends your question, the text you select, the operating system, the current folder and a few recent commands, which you can turn off. A suggested command runs only when you click Run or press Enter.
Do I need an AI key to use PlexusTerm?
No. Everything except the AI chat and the AI suggestions works without one. To use the AI, add a key for Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI or OpenCode Go, or point it at any OpenAI-compatible server such as Ollama or LM Studio.
Can I import my existing sessions?
Yes. PlexusTerm imports the hosts of ~/.ssh/config, with their user, port, key and ProxyJump jump hosts, and the SSH and Telnet bookmarks of a sessions .ini file. A preview shows what will be added before anything is saved.
